Kim Kardashian filed the federal lawsuit against Old Navy over their "Super C-U-T-E" commercial on July 20, accusing the company of misappropriating the reality star's likeness and persona to promote Old Navy products.
"Celebrities have the exclusive right to control the use of their likeness and identity, and to chose the products they endorse," said Kardashian's lawyer Gary Hecker in the filing. "Kim Kardashian is immediately recognizable, and is known for her look and style. Her identity and persona are valuable. When her intellectual property rights are violated, she intends to enforce them."
Seriously????!! Did they flash "Kim Kardashian" across the screen? NO. She's basically saying, "No one can hire a girl with long brown hair parted in the middle because that makes her look like me."
Kim became famous after her sex tape with Ray J! Talk about an identity and persona. Psh.
If anything, this ridiculously egotistical lawsuit is going to steer people away from liking Kim and gain Melissa fans.
The commercial has been airing since February, and she just now decides to do something about it? I think the bigger issue for Kim is that her "look-a-like" is dating her ex, Reggie Bush. Jealousy?
Melissa is obviously talented, and that's why she was chosen for the commercial. Bravo, Melissa. Bravo.
Check out the commercial below. What do you think?
