I was honored to create this commissioned and gifted piece in memory of my friend's father, Lalit Man. I've included his obituary below for everyone to learn more about his spectacular life.
"Lalit Man Shrestha, 75, of Silver Spring, MD, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022. Beloved husband of late Mira Shrestha (September 25, 2021), father of Anup Shrestha, Jamila Yeung, and Anil Shrestha; grandfather of Anish and Aria Shrestha, Ayden and Mia Yeung; father-in-law of Sangeeta Shrestha and Sam Yeung.
Lalit Man was born in Nepal and worked much of his life as a diplomat serving the Royal Nepal Embassy. Through his embassy assignments, he and his family lived in all over the world including Japan and Saudi Arabia. His assignment to the US brought him and his family to Washington DC in 1980s and it is where they decided to stay and begin a more permanent life. He was deeply devoted to his family especially his late wife, Mira. Their love story was one for storybooks, having spent more than 50 years married. When she passed, he was heartbroken but the family finds comfort knowing they are finally reunited and together in the afterlife.
Of all accomplishments and roles he played in life, one that he held near and dear to his heart was being a grandpa. He loved watching his four grandchildren grow and reminding them of the culture in which they came from and importance of carrying on traditions and family values. Lalit Man was deeply devoted to and proud of family. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him."
