Now that the semester is finally over (insert sigh of relief here),I have time to do some fun projects around the house!
So, last summer or sometime before that, our dishwasher leaked and left some nasty water stains on the ceiling in the basement. My first goal was to fix the unsightly mess by painting over it. But, I took it one step further. After seeing how great the LED strip lights worked out in my room, I added some of the same lights to the dropped part of the ceiling in the basement. Check out some before and after photos below.

Before
After

LED strip lights turned on.

All other lights turned off.

They even change colors!

There are literally 16 colors to choose from, along with fade, strobe, smooth, and flash. Also, the lights are dimmable! I might be a little obsessed. It only cost about $100 to complete the whole project, including: (1) 1 gallon can of low-VOC paint, (1) basic 8' LED strip light kit, (2) 6' LED strip light extension kits, (1) 1/2" nap paint roller, and 16' of quarter round moulding.
Not only do we have a much better looking basement--we also have indirect lighting to relax and watch movies!
I can't wait to do more projects around the house and get stuff done this summer!
