I heard a song on the radio today and immediately recognized the melody from an older song by someone else. It was Lupe Fiasco's new single, "The Show Goes On." He reused the sound of Modest Mouse's song, "Float On" from back in 2004. I hope I'm not the only one that thinks that using other people's music like this is tacky.
There are times when sampling another artist's song can enhance their own - yet still remain original in their own right - such as Jason Derulo's use of Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" in his song, "Whatcha Say."
